About Ramiro

Why I’m running:
The decision to run for public office was not one I took lightly. It stems from a long-standing commitment to serve and give back to my community. The position of county clerk would allow me to combine my interest in public service with my 20-year career in the technology sector, enabling me to improve and increase transparency in one department of our local government on a full-time basis.

Del Rio High School graduate; B.S., Angelo State University, Summa Cum Laude.; M.S., applied economics, Purdue University. Very grateful for 4-H, Carr Academic Scholarship and a research assistantship that allowed me to pursue these degrees.

I have served on the boards of nonprofits such as the Boys and Girls Club, the Del Rio Council for the Arts as well as a variety of municipal committees. Also, I have donated my time to creek and citywide cleanups and supported the library expansion project and local community garden.

I see civic involvement as a crucial form of community service, having held the position of secretary of the local Democratic Party and currently serving as the chairman of the board of directors for the Val Verde County Appraisal District.

I also count travel as a very practical form of education, both for work and for pleasure I have been able to visit over 200 cities in the Americas, Europe and Australia. Africa and Asia are still on the bucket list. Check out my travel map and reviews.

Why I’m asking for your vote:

My sincere concern for our city and county government, as well as my numerous volunteer endeavors, have given me an extensive understanding of the requirements for the Val Verde County Clerk position. I’m extremely confident that my relevant skill set more than qualifies me to fulfill the duties of the office.  My career has been focused on a passion for customer service and collectively applying innovative solutions to old problems.  I’m at your service / Estoy a sus ordenes.

I’m approaching this campaign as an interview so please check out my Resume and ask any questions you might have.
